POUR SHIELD DOES NOT WORK

Jerry EM 7/19/2019

There is no way to keep the shield on the bowl. It jumps off at the slightest touch or movement. I contacted KitchenAid and the answer was that it was designed to be a loose fit. Well, it is designed incorrectly. The solution is to put three strips of masking tape around the shield and attach it to the bowl. Seems the designers could come up with something that works on a mixer that costs this much.

Stelly 7/14/2019

I love this Pouring Shield for my 4.5 Kitchen Aid, but I really, really want one for my new Kitchen Aid Commercial 8 quart mixer. I don't find the wire cage any use accept keeping the cat out of the mixing. I took it off , because I got flour every here, and keeps me from accessing the ingreediants. I cant find a pouring Shield that fits the 8 quart bowl. help

Loose fitting, slips off bowl

Kcsnow19 5/4/2019

I've had my KitcheAid mixer for years and love it, but when it comes to the pouring shield it does not stand up to the rest of my accessories or the mixer. I recently dropped it on the tile floor and it cracked. I wasn't too sad since it never seemed to fit the bowl correctly and was loose. I always had to hold it with one hand while trying to pour the dry ingredients with the other. It would have been nice to be able to use both hands to pour.

Flex edge pour chute is terrible

Gayle4310 4/21/2019

Purchased the 5 qt. 325 in October 2018 from QVC. Had been waiting to upgrade my mixer, and excited about the pour chute that came with mixer. However, might as well not have this attachment it is so poorly made. Does not fit securely, wobbles all around and dry ingredients still blow all out and makes a mess. I've seen the older pour chutes, and would like to find one of them. So disappointed because of the cost of this product and not have every item be constructed and better quality in fitting.

lsmith1921 4/5/2019

I received this shield which I thought would be perfect to help, but it doesn't come close to working. It doesn't fit on the bowl, which means I have to hold it down while trying to pour things in and adjust the speed (almost impossible). You would think that after 187 reviews at over 150 being 1 stars, they would work to fix this.

Awful!

JudP 3/27/2019

I've never had an attachment so useless in my life! What a waste of money! Not only doesn't it fit right, as soon as I turn the mixer on low, whatever is in the bowl shoots out the sides and top of it, making a huge mess. I usually love your products but this one is heading for the garbage!

One major flaw

Pouring Shield Complainer 3/10/2019

I purchased my 5 quart Artisan stand mixer in December 2018. My one complaint is the pouring shield. It will not stay in place. If you slightly bump the mixer the shield goes awry whether the mixer is being used or it is just sitting idle on the counter. Why didn't they make a shield that would snap onto the bowl instead of just sitting there un-anchored? Surely Kitchenaid has a better research and development department than that. I suggest they fix the problem and replace all of the shields that are out there with the improved model.

Disappointed.

cjo75 3/7/2019

I got my (KSM150PSSM) 5 QT, ARTISAN stand mixer for last Christmas (2018). I had been resisting getting one for years on the idea that all my family's bread recipes had been done manually and I figured if it was good enough for them, it's good enough for me. I've got all the other great kitchen machines (a Cuisinart food processor, Vitamix blender, Cuisinart immersion blender, etc.) but I just resisted a stand mixer. I'm 75 years old a stubborn. So I got the KitchenAid for Christmas and couldn't be happier. It is the best. I do two different breads regularly. One is a Danish pumpernickel like what you would find in Racine, Wisconsin and the other is an Italian sandwich bread loaf like what you find in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Boy was I wrong. This machine has changed both my breads for the better. I should have gotten this mixer years ago. Any way, the only disappointment is the plastic splash guard. It just doesn't fit and it is such a disappointment coming from a company that has gotten so much right. Surely you all can do better.

Terrible design - even hazardous!

wheatr 3/3/2019

This splash guard just sits on the lip of the bowl and does not stay in place. The slightest bump or even vibration from the machine dislodges it. It then becomes a hazard, sometimes falling in to the bowl! I have resorted to having to hold it in place with one hand while using it. The design makes it difficult and awkward (almost impossible) to use as a left handed person. You basically have to set the mixer perpendicular to the counter edge to use the spout. Even for a right handed person you end up using the mixer with the speed control on the opposite side from you, so blindly operating it. I have dreamed of owning a kitchen aid mixer and I was super excited to receive one for Christmas. The awful design of this feature and the poor craftsmanship of the 5 quart bowl is disappointing for sure.

pouring shield

MeBob 3/2/2019

I cannot get this flimsy piece of plastic to stay on the bowl. Kitchenaid should redesign this useless shield and at least provide 6 or 8 of these tabs (and longer) to keep from falling off and making a mess. Those tabs are so small that they are useless! The radius of curvature is also smaller than the pan so makes it doubly hard to stay on. True bad feature on an otherwise fine mixer (6 Qt. Model).

I was excited when I got this along with my new mixer a couple of weeks ago. I've tried it twice and it doesn't fit tight to the bowl and ingredients fly out between the guard and the mixer and the back where there is no guard. I wouldn't suggest buying this separate.

MarthaAL 2/18/2019

Love the mixer, but the pouring shield is useless, I'm afraid - why can't it be made to snap snugly onto the bowl? It's a big piece of plastic that takes up space and will never be used, as I need three hands - one to pour, two to steady the shield.

5 qt mixer shield. Can I give it a zero?

Anony 2/9/2019

It serves no purpose. The flour comes out between the bowl and the shield. It doesn't fit snug enough to stop anything. It came with my mixer. I don't suggest anyone buying one. I have friends with older mixers and shields. The old shields work great. This seems cheaper and poorly designed.

This piece was included with my mixer, otherwise I wouldn't have even bothered. I've attempted to use this before on another kitchenaid; that one was trash then and this one is trash now. I am the 158th person to leave a one star review, yet this thing is still on offer for thirty bucks?! Yikes, Kitchenaid. Yikes.

Poorly designed

marvys 1/9/2019

I got this awhile back as a Christmas gift from my daughter. Love the mixer, but really dislike the pouring shield. It doesn't fit properly, moves around, and there is a big gap in part of it that allows stuff to fly out of that area, even if you are lucky enough to get the rest of it to stay in place long enough to do anything. VERY poor design. Kitchenaid really needs to come up with a better design. I finally gave up and put mine away. Easier to go without it........or to cut a hole in a paper plate and put it on the mixer, then put the beater on the mixer if you really need a shield - and it works better, too. This one is totally unsatisfactory.

The1-Piece Pouring shield doesn't fit my 5Qt. bowl

Really disappointed 1/1/2019

Dec. 31, 2018. I bought a Diamond blender and an Artisan stand mixer for Xmas. The mixer came with a 4.8 L pouring shield. The shield is very poorly designed and very poorly manufactured. It doesn't fit in the bowl. It looks like if it had been designed for a smaller bowl. It has a big gap between the rim of the bowl and the shield, all around half of the bowl. That makes the flour and batter splatter all over. It is crooked and It doesn't lie flat in the bowl. That makes it fell down into or out of the bowl while pouring the ingredients. It is the first time I buy a Kitchen Aid product and I expected great quality based on the reviews and their very good reputation. I can't comprehend why Kitchen Aid would put in the market such a poorly made product and compromise their good reputation of 100 years for a 50.00 dollars shield right in the year they are celebrating their 100 anniversary. Doesn't Kitchen Aid test their products before to put them in the market? Don't they have a "Quality Control" Dept.? These are very expensive products. The least we can expect is good quality! This makes me question if the quality of my new beautiful Kitchen Aid mixer and my new blender are as bad as the shield. I have only used the mixer once. It made a funny noise, and the wire-whip didn't reach the bottom of the bowl. I will do the adjustment of the screw and hope that will work. It sure gives me a very uneasy filling. If Kitchen Aid can't manage to control the quality of something as simple as a shield, how can I be sure that my new mixer and my new blender will work well? The honorable thing to do would be to design a new shield, test it and make sure that it works, and make a recall to replace it to each of their customers. Very disappointed!

Can't even use it

caclark6s 12/31/2018

I received my Artisan KitchenAid as a birthday gift from my grandma a couple years ago, but I've never been able to use the pouring shield that came with it. It's really flimsy, and doesn't want to fit properly. It falls off before I even have the chance to turn my mixer on! It has these three lips around it that look like they'd fit the bowl, but when I go to put it on... it's like warped or something. Poor design. I'm still disappointed, even after having it for a couple years, because I always have a need for it...

Thank You all

rmony 12/30/2018

A BIG THANK YOU, to all that has rated this item, you just saved me $30!! This was my wish present this year for Christmas. I must admit, I'm not a baker or even one who likes to clean up messes. I seen this and thought, "I have to have this"! Guess I'm taking the advice given about using a tea towel to cover my bowl while using the mixer. Although, something tells me I won't be happy, especially because it will defeat my purpose of trying to learn how to bake. Pretty sure I probably need to watch it while mixing. Anyways, thanks again for your honesty.

Does not stay in place

AMK2 12/29/2018

I waited years for a Kitchenaid stand mixer. I just got one for Christmas and decided to try it out to make a bread yesterday. The mixer is wonderful and I'm so happy for it, but this shield is garbage. It would not stay in place at any point in time. Flour still was tossed all over the place from the edges because there isn't actually any kid of seal. I had to hold it in place the entire time or it would fall off. Definitely do not recommend the money for this accessory.

Daniela K 12/27/2018

I just received the shield and other items for my kitchen aid for Christmas. I really wanted it but now I realize it is completely useless. It simply doesn't fit onto the bowl. You can somehow barely snap it on but as soon as you turn on the machine it snaps right back off. What a bad design. I will now try to send it back. I was so excited to get this shield because I always make a mess when baking. With this shield I still make a mess. It needs to be one solid piece, or at least two pieces that snap together. Please bring back the two-piece shield that fits the bowl, or one solid piece. I love my Kitchenaid mixer, but I don't like the mess.

The only bad thing about my mixer.

DH.Willis 12/15/2018

I can't help but echo the sentiments of everyone else regarding the fit of this shield. It just doesn't fit. I was so excited to finally get a Kitchen Aid mixer and I love it so much, but i get sick to my stomach every time I see this pouring shield that was just a waste of money. Who came up with this design and approved it? I've tried every way I can to make it fit and stay on the bowl, but it just doesn't. I still love my mixer, but this shield has become the bain of my existence. The only reason I haven't thrown it away is because my Mother in Law paid so much money for it. So it's just a useless $30 piece of plastic taking up space in my kitchen that makes me angry and sick when I see it. Boo for this pouring shield KitchenAid. Someone over there really dropped the ball on this one. If I could give it zero stars, I would.

Disappointed in Buffalo 12/14/2018

I have been waiting for 4 years to purchase this mixer and was thrilled when it arrived yesterday. Thrilled until I went to install this pouring shield after washing it, that is. IT DOES NOT FIT PROPERLY! I specifically bought this model because it came with the shield! What a waste of money and I am tempted to send the entire thing back as I have friends who have the first version of the shield and they indicate they can't live without it.

Horrible design

Abru 12/14/2018

I bought this for my young daughter who loves to cook. I was hoping that this would make it easier for her to add the wet and dry ingredients to the bowl without it spilling. The slightest touch of the cover and it will fall off making a bigger mess than not having it at all. Also having the gap in the top of the pour cover makes the flour come right back out after you pour it in.

Pouring shield concerns

Tony24 12/12/2018

I was going to order this but after reading the reviews will not be. My wife boughtt a couple of these from a store in the mall that sells kitchen products but they didn't fit either. I see Kitchen Aid responses apologizing and asking for further contact but I see no action response from them. Are there any plans by Kitchen Aid to re-visit the older model since that shield seems to have worked?

Can't believe that Kitchen Aid (always known as a good company) continues to sell this item. Like all the other reviewers have stated, it doesn't fit on the bowl correctly and allows stuff to spatter all over. I spend as much time cleaning as I would if I didn't use it at all.

brogers 12/7/2018

I bought the mixer a month ago after wanting one for years. I had an old sunbeam mixer that was about 35 years old and still worked good. When I went to make frosting the powdered sugar went everywhere. The shield would not stay in place and kept nothing in. What a disappointment! I thought I had a bad shield until I read the reviews. Whoever designed this shield must have never tested it because it is worthless. Hope the mixer is better than the shield.

kitchenaid really cheaped out on making this pouring shield. It does not click into place and it is cheap and flimsy plastic. It keeps falling into by bowl while mixing. This is very disappointing seeing how much the professional series mixer costs.

Not worth a 1 star rating

martha2019 12/5/2018

This came with my new mixer, it continually would bounce into the mixer while trying mix ingredients. The shield that I bought for my first mixer went all around the bowl, but it was for the smaller classic mixer and won't work on the 5 qt. classic mixer and the rim sits to high for the head of the mixer to sit down in place. I called customer service and they sent a new pouring shield, same design, it has the same problem. Plus the open area allows flour and other ingredients to bounce right out of the bowl at that open area, the pouring shield I had on my first mixer helped to control the fly away flour and other ingredients and because it went all around the bowl never bounced off or into the bowl while the mixer was running. Please go back to that original design, but with a lower profile like this one has to fit on the 5 qt. mixer.

Pouring shield KN1PS for Stand mixer KSM150PSCU

Jowosso1 11/30/2018

I purchased a Stand mixer for my Mom and she loved it. However, the pouring shield never fit properly but my Mom never said anything not to bother me. I decided to contact Kitchen Aid by e-mail to see if they could fix it. Both of the agents Rebecca and Erika were very professional and speedy in their replies, they provided a part number for the shield so I could either order on line or call and a price. Thank you. My disappointment comes after I almost ordered such replacement and instead I decided to read the reviews and found an amazing number of identical complains in regards to the splash guard not fitting over the bowl brim (uneven and not staying in place). I am amaze at the amount of complains without a solution from Kitchen Aid. Unfortunately for my Mom, she will continue to have to use the same shield and just use "duct tape to hold it down and in place". If you are thinking of buying it, DO NOT! Please see the photo I added.

Pouring Shield

DuchsMuchs 11/28/2018

Received my new KitchenAid Artisan this past week and excited and pleased to use it. The Pouring Shield however does not fit well on the bowl. After reviewing the manual and several online sites for correct placement I have determined the Pouring Shield just does not fit. After placing on the bowl, it pops up unless manual pressure is kept on one side of the shield.

Cheap and flimsy

CynthiaD 11/28/2018

Just received my new Kitchenaid, Professional Series (600), and I am horribly dismayed by this pouring shield. How is it even possible that KitchenAid designed such a lousy piece of equipment, something that is so needed. For the record, we own a restaurant and have used Kitchenaids in our kitchen for many years. This is the worst design I have seen yet. I guess I'm back to the towel over my machine..... Wishing a bit that I had explored other mixer options.

Pouring Shield Doesn't Fit

Newtokaid 11/28/2018

Just opened my new KitchenAid mixer, which came with a stainless steel bowl and plastic pouring shield. The pouring shield does not fit the bowl at all! It is slightly warped and too large; it won't snap on or even just sit straight. I can't imagine how it will be useful.

Doesn't stay on

Alexis97221 11/27/2018

I was so excited to use this product with my new KitchenAid mixer, but it doesn't stay on the bowl!! The plastic is flimsy and slightly curved, which probably wouldn't be a huge deal if there were a somewhat secure latch system or something to keep the shield in place. But, there isn't. There are a three very small and short tabs that would rest outside of the bowl if the shield were actually flat, but I highly doubt they would do much of anything even if that were the case. VERY DISAPPOINTING!

Shield doesn't "click" on

LCW1 11/16/2018

I have had my kitchen aid stand mixer last Christmas & am very disappointed in the shield. It does not snap on at all. It slides off as soon as I start the mixer. Very flimsy & basically unusable. My "star" ratings are for the shield only. I am however very pleased with the mixer itself.

Shield Useless

Quilter1936 11/14/2018

I just got my kitchen aid mixer, first one I've ever had, I'm 82 years young. I was making a pumpkin pie and put ingredients in mixer, turned it on slow the shield kept falling off, splattered all over, had quite a mess. Really disappointed!

Doesn't work well

HN2018 11/10/2018

My husband bought me a 6 quart kitchenaid mixer for my birthday. It came with this pouring shield. I used it for the first time yesterday. I've read these reviews and I'm surprised that no changes have been made to the design of this pouring shield. It does not work! I need a lid that keeps the ingredients contained. Seems reasonable for the price and simple fact it's a kitchenaid.

Pour shield is GREAT, if the mixer is NOT running.

Duroc 11/4/2018

It flew of twice the first time we used it. Not going to stand there and hold it on.

Utterly awful in every way

Longtalljohn 10/30/2018

This is a complete and utter disappointment. One star implies it has some utility - if zero stars were available that is the number it deserves. It doesn't actually fit around the top of the bowl to prevent spillage (there is about a 1/2 to 3/4 inch gap all around), so as soon as you mix anything like flour it spreads around the kitchen like a dust bowl. Literally. I can scarcely conceive of a worse product and have no idea why they thought it would be a good idea to leave a massive gap in a spillage shield. Further, there is not even a lid to the pouring section, so all the flour flies back out that part like a lawnmower spewing grass. It cannot have been tested because this is not a manufacturing defect - it was designed like this, which makes it even more astonishing. Utterly shocking product and a complete waste of time and money. Do not buy.

Doesn't ltch

Frankydiaz84 10/30/2018

I recently purchased the pouring shield and i doesn't latch onto bowl. I keeps moving around. It makes more of a mess then preventing one.

Horrible

Cjdove 10/21/2018

My husband surprised me with a Kitchenaid shortly after we were married & I loved it! We recently bought a new (to us) house across the country. We had 2 homes while we were working on both and I missed my mixer! Sweetie surprised me with another, so I let my daughter's have my old one. I want to trade! My old mixer had a pour shield that FIT. This new one simply does NOT. It's like they made a shield for a 3 quart and said, "close enough". And the worst part? THEY KNOW IT DOESN'T FIT BUT WON'T REDESIGN! THEY'RE STILL CHEATING CUSTOMERS.

What a waste

Kitchenaidlover 9/12/2018

This could be a great idea if the dry ingredients didn't go flying out of the open areas! I love my Kitchen Aid but only used this shield a few times. I was getting tired of cleaning the flour off the counters and floor! For the price, it should work 100% better than it does.

Utterly useless

123renee 9/5/2018

This piece came with the stand mixer I recently purchased, and it is beyond unhelpful. It pops off the bowl if you look at it wrong, never mind touching it with a grain of flour or whatever else you might want to get into the bowl. It's certainly sturdy - it once got stuck between the bowl and the paddle as a result of its abysmal design, and not only didn't break, but didn't even show any stress where it had fallen in - but durability doesn't really matter if the piece serves no purpose but getting in the way.

splatter shield

Dianna C 6/20/2018

I have wanted a kitchen aid stand mixer for years. I finally purchased one. Love the mixer but absolutely hate how the flour flies everywhere, even on the lowest speed. Takes so much pleasure out of the baking experience. Kitchen aid should correct this major flaw.
